December 28th, 2006 ROVT - Shoes, Soviets, Slow Motion Explosions and Screamingly Bad Cover Songs

The Christmas madness is almost over and we can concentrate on the run up to New Year’s Eve but before we get there - IT’S THURSDAY!

To kick off this week I present a crazy cool guy ties his shoelace with no hands. I’m watching it and even though I’m thinking “cool” there’s a part of me thinking … NERD!!!

As we are in the midst of the festive season and thoughts of peace and love are all around I thought I’d point you in the direction of this Soviet Anti war animation (don’t worry, you don’t need to know Russian) demonstrating the birth of Conflict using nothing but matches …

So are you feeling all peaceful? No? Oh well … in that case I’d suggest going and blowing up some CO2 bombs in your swimming pool.

And finally I present Celine Dion with her interesting cover of AC/DC’s you shook me all night long. This is just too awful to say anything further about.

Actually I can’t end on something that bad … here you go, have some boobly gum :-)

December 22nd, 2006 Bloody Baristas

Maybe you can help me with something?

When, roughly, did latté become a synonym for cappuccino?

I was standing in my preferred coffee shop this morning (having taken the bus in anticipation of a slightly, boozy luncheon) and the gentleman ahead of me in the queue (I could tell he was a gentleman as he carried an umbrella and a hat!) ordered a “double shot cap”. I then placed my regular order for a double latté.

Standing to one side, I watched in amazement as the girl behind the counter proceeded to make two drinks that were identical in every way, even going so far as to top my drink with chocolate. I could understand her being a little confused had I requested a “double, skinny, bone-dry, cap to go and hold the baby moose” (I have no idea what that means either by the way) but to not know the difference between two wholly different beverages is tantamount to coffee crime.

I got the last laugh though … a latté is 20p cheaper than a cappuccino :-D

December 22nd, 2006 Jersey Tourism’s Christmas Carol

I seem to have subscribed to a (unofficial) Jersey Tourism blog which is actually very well written if a little sparse when it comes to updates.

However, their Christmas Carol made me giggle. This is, of course, of little interest to those outside of Jersey.

December 21st, 2006 ROVT - Beats, Bras, Beagles, Bruce, Beowulf and … Belgium

Ok so I made the last two up. It’s a fair cop. But in the mean time “Iiiiiit’s Ripped Off Video THURSDAYYYYY” and this weeks instalment is 100% SFW … ish

Kicking off today’s wondrous assortment of animated awesomeness is a dog in a plane. You ever wonder why they introduced pet passports? Those little critters can be a real pest in the back.

Following closely behind we have a fairly good Mic Master and the toy every depressed teenager wants this Xmas. Well, that and a Wii.

Moving on to the world of employment DTR presents a couple of example; of managers trying to fill a position; and someone who may well not have a job next week. Top tip babe, always assume the camera is on!

Geek News Spot - Somebody in the world really does have this much time to spend on Line Rider (I’m actually a little envious … until I realise I have a social life which makes me feel better).

Before we finish today’s thrilling instalment I think it’s important to re-evaluate ourselves in the context of the world we live in. I have seen nothing better (bar looking up into the sky on a clear, star filled night) to provide one with a sense of perspective. Prepare to feel small.

And finally, a little bit for the actual film fans amongst my readership.

See you tomorrow.

December 20th, 2006 Mario - Super Hero or Sinister little man with a ‘tache

Continuing the complete lack of original content for what little remains of 2006, I think you’ll enjoy reading six things you didn’t know about Mario. He’s actually a little freak!
