December 23rd, 2003 Snooze Button Dreams Design

Some of you may recall that a while ago Jim from Snooze Button Dreams put out a call for a new design for the site. Well, I have finally answered that call and two of the initial designs are available for your approval and comments. The third should be joining them any day now, maybe when I stop doing massive catch up posts about the past three days activities.

There is also a fantastic design from the Bartender which has been up for quite a while now (what I’ve been BUSY!). All I have to work out is how to combine all three designs into a Skinable interface … ugh! I have a few ideas though so don’t worry.

December 23rd, 2003 When is a Raven like a Writing Desk?

I have absolutely no idea but I do know that the soon to be ‘rolled Victor is a man worthy of my admiration. Not only does he randomly inspect the alt tags on obscure images on foreign Blogger’s side bars, but he also answers the questions asked therein! (To work out what the hell I’m blathering about just hover your mouse over the picture of the spooky looking dude in the top hat!)

So the first of the XSet points go to Victor for correctly identifying the image as that of the Mad Hatter in American McGee’s Alice - a wonderfully screwed up take on the Lewis Carroll classic story. IF you have a PC then you really have o excuse for not playing this game - it’s totally twisted and wonderfully warped, a veritable vision of vice and iniquity … and I alliterate too much.

December 23rd, 2003 Right, I’m feeling much better now,

And as such feel I owe the world an update. Unfortunately I have quite a lot to say today and rather than bore you with one long stream of consciousness post, I’m going to break it up into bite sized pieces for your consumption.

December 23rd, 2003 Xmas Shopping

I’ve been very busy over the past couple of days what with this whole Christmas business and all. For some reason, My being on holiday (i.e. annual leave) has led to my being the one who does most of the tidying of the house, sweeping of drives and cleaning of windows… Which bit of holiday suggests the innate desire to perform such tasks? All I wanna do is have some fun …. no wait, that’s Sheryl, all I wanna do is kick back and read the paper, maybe blog a bit and generally slob out. But, there are windows to be cleaned and so I must clean them…

I finished all of my Christmas Shopping yesterday and was amazed to find that I had made it home without killing anybody! Christmas shopping is one of those times of year that I am glad we live in a country which doesn’t recognise a right to bear fire arms…

After 30 minutes of horrendous fake cheer from shop assistants, rabid shoving and pushing from mothers with small children on a seemingly random orbit around the push chair (strangely reminiscent of the roman battle chariots! what with the spikes and everything) and the fact that I am burdened with vast quantities of large boxes with evil corners and sadistic bags full of delicate breakables which gravitate toward the nearest lamppost without the slightest provocation … 30 minutes of that and I’m reaching for the fortunately nonexistent M-16 … lock and load …3 round burst … ho (BLAM!) ho (BLAM!) ho (BLAM!)

A taser would be nice though…

But I survived the various perils of the High Street (anybody know why they call it that?) and limped home with all of the relevant gifts in tow. Now all I have to do is wrap them, pop them under the tree and wait for the credit card bill to come through so I can see how much I spent - I didn’t dare add up the receipts last night.
